Your First Visit
Orthodontic treatment is a step-wise process and the first step is a complimentary initial examination. The appointment is quick, painless and, of course, complimentary. At the end of the appointment you will know the answer to the following:
- Is there a need for orthodontic treatment?
- Is now the best time to begin treatment?
- What treatment options are available?
- What will treatment cost?
- How long will treatment last?
At the appointment you will also be provided with:
- A new patient folder with an orthodontic treatment brochure further describing treatment
- A written treatment fee sheet with all available payment options (if treatment is recommended)
- Additional complimentary re-examinations (if Dr. Freeman recommends postponing your child’s treatment to allow further growth and dental development)
- A letter will be written to your dentist describing Dr. Freeman’s findings and treatment recommendations
The Second Step: Orthodontic Records
The second step is having orthodontic records taken. Typically this will include photographs of the face and teeth, impressions (molds) of the teeth, and two x-rays: a panoramic film which shows all the teeth at once and a profile film which shows the relationship of the teeth and the jaw bones to the profile. Often we are able to perform the initial exam and take records at the same appointment.
The Third Step: Consultation
During the consultation, Dr. Freeman will explain the type of orthodontic treatment indicated based upon his review of the orthodontic records and clinical findings, as well as the patient’s and/or parent’s concerns. Often patients will have separators (spacers) placed at the end of the consultation in preparation for beginning treatment.
The Fourth Step: “Getting Braces”
The longest appointment we schedule is ninety minutes to place full upper and lower braces.
The above may vary slightly depending upon the exact treatment indicated. However, the first step will always be a complimentary initial examination.
To get started, please contact us!
Upon scheduling your complimentary initial examination you will receive a welcome letter, a map to the practice, and a Patient Registration Card * to bring with you to your first appointment.
